To find the USB option you just need to connect the phone to the computer and you will see it when you drag the screen down whilst on the home page. You should see 'connected as a media device'. Touch thet and you will see all options. As long as you see the said message, you can download your music, photos etc.

excellent, that worked!! so the album im testing it on is now on my phone. when listening to it though i have to go into each individual song and press play rather than them playing concurrently as it would if it were the cd i was listening to. is it easy to set so that it does play one song after another without my intervention. thanks again for your help you guys.

Unfortunately I will need to pass this to someone with an Android phone (Jonsie?) to give you advice as I havent used one myself much!
But you should be able to view the songs as an Album or by artist which should play them in turn rather than song by song.
Sorry I can't help more!
Over to the Android experts...

If you are using the stock Music Player select 'add to playlist' at the top select all. They will then play in sequence unless you 'shuffle' them. You can make any number of playlists once you get all your music on there.
There are other music players on playstore too, each with their own variations.
