Deleted and re-established my email account and now it doesn't work

Anonymous
Not applicable

I wanted to remove email contacts from my contacts list and, using the advice from this forum about Facebook, I also deleted my email account and then set it back up again. The problem is, now my emails won't show up at all. I go through the process as normal, without syncing my contacts, and everything sets up with no issues. But now when I click on the email icon, I just get a blank screen with no options or anything.

I've tried turning the phone off and on, I've tried deleting and then re-setting my email account multiple times but nothing is working

Next thing to try is to set hotmail up manually:

1. Applications
2. E-mail ( the standard SGS Email)
3. Add new account
4. Fill in Email Address + Password of your Hotmail account
5. Press Manual Setup
6. Chose Exchange Account
7. Domain/Username = 'Youremail'@hotmail.com
8. Password = Your Hotmail password ( Already filled in in previous steps)
9. Exchange Server = m.hotmail.com
10. Tick 'Use Secure Connection (SSL) '
11. Press Next

If that fails then it's looking like you need to clear the cache:

Turn off the phone and remove the battery. Wait 2 minutes and put it back
Press and hold down Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time.
Release all buttons when you see S2 Logo.
Android system recovery will be loaded now
Select clear cache partition using the volume button. On button to then action this.

You then get the option to reboot the phone. Action this and then try again.

The next option would be a factory reset which you do in exactly the same way but choose 'factory reset'. This wipes all your data so make sure you back up first.

OR

You could get a different email app from Google Play

Good luck.

Which phone do you have and which email client are you using?

Are you using the stock email app on the phone?

It's a Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i with Android version 2.3.6. I'm trying to set up a Hotmail account and yes, I'm using the stock email app that's on the phone slight_smile

Try going to Settings > Applications > Manage applications, select the All tab on top, scroll down to Email, tap on it and then Clear data.

After that restart the phone and try creating your email accounts again.
