Just bought this tablet Alcaltel Pixi 5.1 running kit kat 2nd hand.

I don't know if it is a sim card problem (topped up with £10 but doesn't receive calls but makes my iphone ring).

or tablet problem

or O2 problem.

Trying to get Pokemn Go to run on it.

Any ideas? Thank you.

No, shouldn't make any difference as GPS is a sensor on tablet and not connected to any other settings.
I don't play the pokey game but have a look in the settings to see if you need to allow it to connect to GPS and just check the tablet settings that location services are set to high accuracy.

No GPS sensor on that phone I'm afraid.

Just having a look at specs and the Alcatel Pixi 3 does have GPS.
If yours is a 1 or 2 it won't work but a 3 or 4 should.

I'm new to this tablet and the sticker on the back I can't read. Not sure what it is but it says model number 9022x and build number 010 04 with kernel version 3.10.49
