Hey all,

We see some of you have already spotted this but we wanted to confirm that the TU Go app & service will be ending on 30th November. We’ll be notifying all customers that have the TU Go app about this from today, Tuesday 17th October, through to Friday 20th October.

While TU Go is ending, we’re continuing to offer alternative calling options for our customers. More information can be found here. As VoWifi (Voice over Wifi, part of our Wifi and 4G calling capabilities) continues to develop, we’re working with our vendors to expand the selection of handsets that we offer with Wifi and 4G calling capabilities. A full list of currently supported devices can be found here, where we will also add future devices when they’re available.

If the device you’re currently using doesn’t support Wifi and 4G calling, you can check the My O2 app or get in touch with our customer service team (202 from an O2 Pay Monthly mobile, 8002 from O2 Business mobile) to see what upgrade options are available to you.

We recommend that all TU Go users make copies of any stored messages or images that they have saved on the TU Go app, as the app won’t be accessible from 1 December.

A thank you
We know that some of our O2 Community members helped test the TU Go app during beta trials and provided varied and fantastic feedback which helped our team shape the app, add new features and fix any bugs. We hope you’ve enjoyed using TU Go, and again want to thank anyone from the O2 Community that helped us.

More information on the closure of TU Go can be found here: https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/tu-go

I've done a bit of digging and e-mailed to the Chairman of Telefonica, the Spanish group that owns O2. I've asked if he is aware what reputational damage has been done to O2 and also if he has checked the number of customers who have terminated their contracts with O2 since the cessation of TuGo was announced because of the ham-fisted way that the cessation has been handled. This should interest him as it is reducing the value of a brand he is trying to sell on. I'll post here if I get a response.

I doubt you will get a response @Anonymous but please let us know if you do...It will be interesting..:smileywink:

I would be very interested in what ever response you get, if you get one, which is doubtful.

I have been informed today that my Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is not on the list to be enabled for Wifi Calling and therefore will not be enabled.

Its less than 2 years old and not officially out of contract.  O2 have released me from my obligation to finish paying for the phone to compensate - they have a strange philosophy on customer service!

So I await my next bill and then I'm off.

You say you are now with Three?  Can I take my existing phone and just have a SIM contract and obtain the same Wifi Calling you have?

@Anonymous just get your PAC from O2 https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-Pay-and-Go/How-to-get-your-PAC-2017-Update/ba-p/1052278

Then go get a sim only deal from Three.

Download the Three in Touch app off Play store and you're all set.

You may also need to get your phone unlocked from O2 https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Other-Products-and-Services/Unlocking-an-O2-phone-to-use-a-different-SIM-card/ba-p/1014131

Exactly the process we went through @MI5.

Three shop couldn't have been more helpful and it all went very smoothly except for the time it took for O2 to let us have network unlatching codes for 2 x Samsung J5 (48 to 72 hours).

Thanks for that - very helpful!

I've applied for the unlock using the website - I am a bit fearful though because it states it could take up to 7 days which I haven't got.  I wanted to go into Three tomorrow, but I fear I may be making a wasted trip if I'm not unlocked.

Is there a quicker way of expiditing this?

The PAC code is a little simpler is it not?  If I recall this can be done almost immediately and if you don't use the code within a certain time you have to get another - am I correct?

Also, I have been on Google Play Store looking for this specific app with my Samsung tablet and it doesn't come up with the named app that you describe, (i.e. Three in Touch).  All I see is an app call "3" which without looking to much appears to be an account access app similar to MyO2.  Am I looking in the right place or is the app you are referencing only something available when you are in contract?

Pac is valid for 30 days.
If you go over, just apply for a new one.
Unlock codes usually come through within a couple of days but does vary.
I’ll have a look on play and find you the app in a bit.

Got the PAC code.

The unlatching is another story.  It seems that 7 working days is what it is going to take, no less.

No amount of cajouling, pleading begging will move this third rate organisation.

I even accused them of reckless endangerment with regards to my health circumstances and my caring responsibilities with my elderly mother, but although I got a load of "sorrys" it was all so false.

The cheeky b*stard even tried to get me to upgrade to get over my problem.  I informed him in no uncertain terms that even if I couldn't achieve my goal of getting wifi calling with my current phone, anything would be better than staying with O2, even if I had to resort to smoke signals.

I'm unable to find the app on Play too.
There was a rumour that they were stopping it too but I'm not sure if they have or it's a temporary glitch?

Great bit of information - many thanks!

You are obviously in the know on this sort of thing.

As I have noted before, you seem to be using a Sony Xperia Z5.  Was this an O2 phone?  Are you using yours with this app?

I have a Sony Xperia Z5 Compact which was the phone I liked and decided to have on my contract with O2 a little under two years ago to replace the X3 I had.  That was driving me mad because it ony had 4GB so it filled up very quickly even though I only had  a few apps running and a 32GB card installed, I found I had to keep getting rid of the app updates and send them back to factory state to create a bit of room.

Will my Z5 Compact work with this Three app?
