Hey Guys,
Just to confirm that we’re contacting our customers who currently have 4G ready phones as we're giving them access to 4G for nothing!
All the details on this are here http://go.o2.co.uk/got4G
Only those who currently have a 4G phone but are on 3G plans can take advantage of this offer.
The messages you may receive about this will vary depending on whether you’re currently in an area that supports 4G or not. We’ll grant all customers who own a 4G ready phone access to this offer so you’re good and ready when 4G comes to your town.
We want as many people enjoying 4G as we can, at the moment our 4G could cover 17 million people in the UK!
This is part of our 2014 4G master plan, if you have any questions or thoughts- Let us know!
If you are one of the 600,000 customers who will enjoy free 4G, please do share some speed tests with the community too!
Thanks
Brad

Hey guys it's me again. I sorted out 4G on my tariff the other day, now my dad is looking at a new phone. If he buys a 4G phone on a 3G tariff, will he be eligible for the 4G upgrade too? Or is it only if you bought before a certain date?

Hi,
I dont see any criteria on dates.
One question I asked was that if someone didnt have a 4G compatable phone could they go out and buy one and then take up the offer.
Answer was : yes.
Basically o2 want as many of their customers on the 4G offerings.

So just as i thought..... Got charged for the bolt on, on my bill.
Spoke to live chat and was told they had no record of my previous conversation applying it for free.
I was told The free 4g upgrade is only for new customers. I then gave the link to this thread and was told i wasnt eligible becuase im on an unlimited tarriff. Even though i have a 1g data cap.
I then quoted the first message from Brad and was told im not eligible and will need a new tarriff which i cant get until 2015.
I knew it was too good to be true and been charged extra £7.50 for the priviledge.
Awful customer service!! Have removed the bolt on now.
Should i chance calling customer services direct instead of live chat?
