UPDATED on 19/2/25 to ensure Volt benefits are up to date.

O2 and Virgin Media, two of the UK’s most iconic brands combining 46 million+ broadband, mobile, phone, and home subscribers, have come together to give the UK more choice and better value. And if you're a customer of both O2 and Virgin Media, it's time to supercharge your world. It's time to bring on big benefits and even bigger possibilities, with Volt benefits.

This guide will give you all the info you need to ensure you're fully informed on Volt benefits, who's eligible, and how to apply it to your account.

Benefits of Volt

Max out the benefits when you have Virgin Media broadband and an eligible O2 Pay Monthly plan in your household:

  • Bag a Virgin Media broadband speed boost to the next available level (up to 1Gbps)
  • Kick back with a WiFi guarantee at no extra cost (if you don’t have it already) – meaning reliable WiFi in every room or money back and up to three WiFi Pods if needed, on us
  • Get double data for every eligible O2 Pay Monthly plan in your household
  • Roam freely in 75 destinations worldwide at no extra cost, with O2 Travel Inclusive Zone (unless you already have this with O2)*
  • Unlock exclusive rewards and experiences with Priority from O2
  • Grab an Extra from O2 from one of our partners – including Disney+, Amazon and more (unless you’re already with O2 and have an Extra this way)

*Tablets excluded from roaming benefits

Volt Eligability

Anyone can take out one of our Volt bundles to grab Volt benefits.

Or, if you’re already with O2, you’ll get Volt benefits once you also take out an eligible Virgin Media broadband pack or bundle registered at the same address.

The same goes the other way – if you already have Virgin Media broadband but aren’t with O2, you can take out eligible O2 Pay Monthly phones, tablets or SIMs to get Volt benefits.

Once you’re with both Virgin Media and O2, you can check your eligibility and activate your Volt benefits in My O2 or My Virgin Media.

Just to give some updates on this...

I got a text from o2 on the 14th confirming that my Volt benefits were now live, and checked my data allowance that evening it showed the increased amount.

To go with that, I called VM and after some struggles with the options (press 1 for this and 2 for that, etc, etc) I got through to a lovely chap who managed to get me a WiFi pod in the post.  Which is being delivered this evening!

I have both VM and O2 accounts, both at the same address.  When I try to activate I get the error that Volt benefits aren't available either because I already have them (I don't) or because VM is not available in my area (it is available, I have it installed).  How do I get this issue sorted so I can register?

Ok, stick with me guys because this is a long one.

I had a Virgin Media deal and an O2 contract so have Volt benefits on my account.

My virgin Media contract was running out so I signed a new one and that package came with an O2 Unlimited sim. Virgin have told me to contact O2 to request the sim. I spent a hour and a half on chat with O2 today and it was next to useless. They just kept saying they were selling me a sim and my current sim would be cancelled which is wrong, I want to keep the current sim I have and get the sim I'm paying for with my Virgin Media bundle already.

It seems really difficult for them to understand. Anyone got any idea what I can do? Virgin Media tell me to speak to O2, O2 tell me to speak to Virgin Media and neither company seems to speak to each other despite them working together on this Volt promotion.

Frustrating isn't the word I'd use, but is probably best for a forum like this

@Smurf

Looks like you should contact the sales team as they can help with that – message them on Social Media if that works best for you -on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG)

Or you can call them on 0800 081 0255

Thanks

Virgin are talking bull******, and this is to be expected from the useless Manila Call Centre....

If you have signed up for Volt, Virgin need to request the sim card from o2, there is nothing o2 sales can do about it, as it is tied to your Virgin Deal (although billed seperately).

You cant have both the Virgin Media Sim sold on Ooomph and the o2 sim card at the same time, as your VM sim card is tied to your Oomph contract and when that contract ends so does your VM Sim Card... You should be able to port the number out though.

Does the Virgin speed boost apply to any broadband package?  There only seem to be a limited number of Volt packages available on the Virgin pages.

In other words, if I signed up for a 350MB broadband-only package, will that be bumped up to 500MB?  Or a 500MB package will be bumped up to 1000MB?

Cheers
