visual voicemails slow to arrive

Hello,

My apple iphone visual voicemail is really slow in the voicemail arriving so that i can play it an I dont know why!

so someone rings me leaves voicemail an 2-4 hours later i will get it!, why is it so slow? can it be fixed?

I have changed apple iphones a few times and always migrated old data into new phone an retained visual voicemails wherever i can.

Sometimes ios update has cleared all my visual voicemails but right now i have them going back last 3 years.

Current model is iphone 12 pro

previous was iphone 11 pro max

an iphone 8 plus before that.

No settings have been updated on the network in the current/last phone changes as the phones were purchased secondhand( an not thru o2).

Sometimes I get the same delays, but not always.

No reason for it that I can find except maybe the network / system gets too busy to cope occasionally.

i have spoken to o2 in the distant past an they always mention 30 days of messages however visual voicemail stores the messages on the phone an as you well know they can go back years an years, however i dont know how this affects the delay in getting new messages if at all ? 🤔

I don't think it makes any difference @tinket 

They can be slow to arrive with normal voicemail too.
