This is very frustrating as I cannot receive whatsapp messages, calls or internet access intermittently. Whilst I'm sat on my pc next to the router then all is ok. In my front room - not far away as I'm in a bungalow - the signal cuts off. Please help an old lady get this sorted.

So which signal is dropping? Is it your WiFi as you mentioned moving away from the router, or your phone?

It would make sense to connect your phone to your home broadband/WiFi @cathieclo
That would ensure that your WhatsApp messages come through.
As for calls and texts, it would depend on your phone - on Android you can use RCS which uses data, and sign up to calls via WiFi as well.
