Hi, I cannot get wifi even when I have wifi switched on and data roaming enabled. I am a rennet transfer from Virgin mobile,  can you advise?

If you mean mobile data rather than wifi, then you need to reset your apn in phone settings.

Either reset your network settings or enter the apn manually.
