Text and calls won’t work after new sim

Hi - I transferred over from virgin - got a new sim (they sent two but on was 5G only my phone is 4G) anyway eventually got the right sim in but texts will send but can’t be received - calls again can go out but none incoming - it’s a iPhone and messaging shows my number but says verifing (no tick) and “waiting for activation”. WhatsApp is working fine - I have done all the normal recommendations (network setting reset - on off - etc - but nothing is working - it’s taking up to six hours to get a reply on their message platform and finally today after three days with no resolution it flashed up “you have ended the conversation” (not sure how I did this) - I can’t even get a PAC code because of the text issue - anyone got any idea
