Hello,
I have just purchased a pre-owned Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact.
My home location has very poor signal coverage so I want to try using WiFi calling when the mobile signal drops out.
My phone doesn't seem to support it at the moment and I believe this is because it does not have O2 firmware .
How can I resolve this issue?
Thank you.

Doesn't matter about O2 firmware.
You need O2 to enable it on your account first then turn it on in your MyO2.
contact customer service as they can help with that – message them on Social Media if that works best for you -on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) or call on 202 or 0344 809 0202

Hi @Waypher
O2 need to activate it on your account first, if not done so already.
Call them on any of these numbers Guide: How to find help & contact O2
Once that's done, you need to enable it in your MyO2 http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2
And turn it on with the toggle on your device.

Many thanks
I don't do any social media so I'll try contacting them on 202.
I tried to get on online chat yesterday and today to sort it but it was tortuous . 😉

You're welcome @Waypher
Make sure your phones firmware is up to date too.

Update,
Just had a very frustrating hour and a half ( 30 minutes to get through ) trying to sort this via customer services to no avail.
The advisor was very polite and seemed to be trying her best but the end result was no they can't do it, but an upgrade would solve it !
I thought this would be simple to activate but apparently not.
Maybe I'm asking too much....it's an older phone which wasn't purchased from O2 and does not have the requisite firmware.
Any other suggestions which don't involve calling 202 would be appreciated 😉
Cheers
