Today I changed from my contract to an eSIM only deal (100gb for £19). All I wanted to do when I set out is to ask someone what I do next.

I keep on getting bombarded by numbers like 023 9224 0498 (London presumably) and 020 8698 4494 (Apparently from Portsmouth). Loads of different ones. I hit the red cancel button each and every time.

I was on the phone for ages to one Indian guy on one number who kept on asking me to quote 6 digit numbers for DPD so they can send me the pack containing presumably the relevant documents like the contract. I had to quote about 6 of them. He even got a bit personal. Asking me if I was single or married. He went into a lot about promotion of other devices. I told him I was not interested.

I got very panicky. I am very worried and concerned that he and the others may be scam or fraudulent calls not from o2.

What do I do?

Hello @PA1976

Sorry to hear you are worried

You didn't give any information from what you say and never give info to strange numbers.

As far as I'm aware you are more than unlikely to get a call from o2 customer services

Call o2 customer services to check your esim query

As far as I remember everything I had to confirm they knew already.

More than unlikely? Is that good or bad? Are you possibly saying that the chances of getting a call from customer service is better than unlikely?

Calls from Customer Service are rarer than hen's teeth, even when they say they will ring you.

None of those numbers are O2

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

If you think you’ve been the victim of fraud – whether it’s because you’ve given details to someone over the phone, or clicked on a link in a suspicious text or email there are things you can do:
Contact your bank if you think you may have given out financial information. They can help protect your account and stop transactions.
Change your account and online account passwords. Not just your O2 account. All of them.
Forward fraudulent texts to O2 for free on 7726.
Contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
Call your Virgin Media or O2 customer services number if you think somebody’s taken out a contract using your details.
Virgin Media customers can phone 150 from their landline or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone.
O2 customers can call 202 from their O2 phone or 0344 809 0202 from any other phone.

You can block the number that called you, or any number you think may be suspicious.
