Hi, my son has a Big Bundle SIM only plan, and will be going on a school trip for 2 days to France later this year. He will have his phone with him: would he have to manually connect to (O2 France?), or would his phone automatically connect to the French network, or would he have to manually connect once there? Would he be able to make or receive texts and calls within his normal calls and texts allowance while in France, or would he be charged extra for doing that? Many thanks.

His phone will connect to one of the french networks Orange FR, Bouygues etc..  It should automatically connect, you might be best going into the phone settings and make sure his phone is set to allow mobile roaming. 

Yes he can text and call to the UK, within his bundle allowances
