I have an unlocked Pixel 5a which has WiFi calling on Vodafone. Changed to O2 and it has gone. I have very little mobile converage and don't really want to go back to Vodafone, but...

If on PAYG then you wont get it at all on any o2 phones, and if on PAYM then it should work, but the Pixel 5 used to be a bit of an anomaly in the Pixel Range,,,,
