Number port while abroad

Hi all,

I have just started a new contract with O2 from Three. I tried submitting my PAC code online on a Thursday but this failed and then gave it over the phone Friday. I have read online that ports don't go through on the weekends, but when I spoke to the agent over the phone, I was reassured multiple times that the change would go through on Saturday and hence I went ahead. I have since received a message that the port will only go through on Monday.

My problem is I am leaving the country on Sunday and am worried what will happen when the porting attempt goes through. Will it be successful and my old number now linked to this SIM? Or will it fail and I lose phone coverage completely. Im happy if it fails and I keep the temporary number given to me by O2 until I get back in the country, I just don't want to be without phone signal for a month and a half.

Thanks for your help 🙂

@presidentsnow You can try reaching O2 via social media, who should be able to advise you. I'm reasonably certain that your number will not port over the weekend.

Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB), Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW), or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG)

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

I've done tariff changes when abroad and they have gone through fine.

I've never done a port in when abroad but as it's all done o2 side, I can't see it being an issue.

You may be without signal for a few hours though once the porting process starts, but rebooting phone should help that process.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I guess that's my concern as once I lose signal and the porting process fails, I hope I still get the signal afterwards 😕

As it's all done on O2's system I don't expect sim location to be any more of an issue than being in the UK.
