No network on mobile, no one answers on 202 and chat asks me to scan a QR code but I have no internet on mobile to scan it, with no internet! Nobody answers on 202, just automated message repeating they are busy, then the phone line drops out and I am cut off.
The coverage checker says I have service in my area but I don't.
I have tried switching off the phone (and all the other hints to fix it but still a problem.
It did come back temporarily but has gone again now

Can you check this with another phone ?
If your SIM is faulty, the best option is to pop into your nearest O2 shop for a replacement SIM.
