Hi - my phone got stolen and I have a new phone and sim from o2 insurance (they were actually v good!).
The sim instructions to move your number to the new sim wants to send a text to my number (which i don't have access to as my old sim is lost with my phone). I phoned o2 and they put me on hold to speak with insurance and then they came back and i thought they were putting me through to someone because they mentioned getting a number but it seemed that they sorted it out for me and said it will take up to 24 hours but is usually instant - i didn't give them any details of the new sim (i can only assume this is the 'number' they got from insurance) - does this all sound right? that they did it automatically without me giving any details of the new sim etc? (they know my usual phone number).
And how do i know once i have my number back? i suddenly have signal after restarting my phone but can't make calls. The phone doesn't actually tell me anywhere what my number is (siri has guessed it from emails). I can't log into most apps until I have my number back and associated with a phone because they all need to text the number to verify I'm me.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Bars will need lifting from your account.
We’re just customers like you but it sounds like you’ll need someone to access your account which can’t be done from here. If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this
Thanks
