I cannot send SMS messages

For the last week I have been unable to send SMS text messages.

No problem before... These are contacts with whom I have had to and fro chats. Suddenly says I cannot send and I try to send again and not working.

Force-stop the SMS messages app, and clear cache, that may fix it, @Tim8 - Guide: Text Message Tips (not sent or received)
