How to check if old iPhone is unlocked

We have an old iPhone 6 that we want to sell. It was previously on pay monthly o2 tariff. Need to find out if it is unlocked. Don’t have a non o2 sim to check. How can we find out? Thanks

As O2 only started selling unlocked phones in 2018, it's more than likely to be locked.
