I’ve an iPhone 11 with pay monthly sim, I am looking to install my work sim (which is Vodafone) to run dual sim but have a few questions….

- Will Vodafone sim work
- Will is ring either sim if using the other, or can only one be selected at a time?
- Will contacts be different?

Any other advice for using dual sim?

Thanks

Yes

It's dual sim, dual standby, so both sims are always active.

No, only one contact app.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

@SvWilson

Either sim will work in your phone. I'll tag @MI5 who has got a dual sim phone and he will answer any other queries.

Yes only one contact App but contacts are assigned to one of the numbers of your choosing and messages or calls will be made from the associated number

When the e-SIM and the physical SIM are active, you assign them a recognisable name and select which number is your default one.

When adding new contacts you associate each with one number or the other. As you will have two different service providers, should you not have a connection with the provider of the mobile number your contact is assigned to, you will be prompted if you would like to use your other number to phone with

You cannot restrict the contact to ONLY be associated with one of the numbers… and can quickly swap which one you want to use to message or call them from

Can I insert a second sim with another carrier/network without my phone being unlocked (as it is still in contract)?

@Gaynor2

Yes you can as O2 no longer lock their phones.
