A custom phone number is a total waste of money. Once you give the number to someone they put it in their phone and the name comes up when that number calls someone, not the number, so what's the point?  A car registration is different. At least you can see it and you can sell it on. I sold my car reg. that I had transferred onto 5 different cars over 30 years a few years ago for a lot of money.
