require address to send a recorded letter to cancel o2 contract

Ok will be cancelling my o2 contract, in a month or two, its up for renewal 5th March 2014, so would like to get a letter off in the post a good month in advance, giving 30 days notice , and will send it recorded delivery. Ok this sounds simple, but No its not, did chat help and support via o2 online, spent 20 mins trying to get this address, I dont want to cancel on chat, or phone, I want to send a letter and then go to the shop I got the phone from, to confirm this. But after 20 mins, trying to get me to stay, the answer is no we cant give you an address period, you have to do it on chat or phone.....Now I was told in the o2 shop where i signed up, to this contract, that I could cancel by a letter, what is this secret address pretty please......if any one knows of it, I would be very grateful, thanks in advance..

I wouldn't send your cancellation in too early as it may be forgotten, 30 days and it gets actioned immediately.

If your using only a O2 SIM card then you don't have to get it unlocked.

However unlocking it does increase it's street value and usefulness.

Thanks once again for your advice, yes im sure it will help unlocking it, if I ever want to sell it on the phone, I may in a few months, buy a new  phone nokia 1020, so that would make sense, unlocking it, I had a look at the link to unlock, is it possible for me to unlock it now, whilst its on the o2 network, sorry I am a real novice to this.

You can send the unlock form now and get it done so it's out of the way. It's free whilst in contract but will cost you £15 when you revert to pay as you go.

Hi purplecatqueen,

No need to apologise   slight_smile

Its best you get all these questions answered now and be pro-active than to come back to try and sort out something after which is obviously harder and more stressful sometimes to do.

As said you can get the phone unlocked at any stage before you cancel your contract.

Take care.
