Hi my current sim only comes to an end in January 2026, last year I found a really good deal through U-Switch to renew through 2025 but this year checking the deals on Uswitch i see this "Deals not available as upgrades for existing customers"
Has 02 stopped this way to renew as the renewal prices being offered through the O2 site are not worth staying for. Any advice appreciated
thanks

Its not just o2, that are doing this if you try and do it on Vodafone and Three (EE are no longer on Comparison Sites) you get the same error message that I posted.
@pgn
All I can think of is the commission rates for a new contract are say £30 a connection (as an example I dont know how much it is) and for an upgrade are £2.50 (which is possible as you are not introducing a new customer) then the Affiliate makes a decision on who they want to sell too...
I know we all like to beat up o2 at times, but with this been across the majority it smells like the comparison sites have made the decision.
I would port to something like Spusu or ID Mobile for a month less than £10 ( you never know you might like them) and then port back to o2 if you want..

Go for one that offers an eSIM like Spusu, Giffgaff or Voxi to name a few. All 30 day contracts and you are not wanting for a SIM in the post

@Dino1968 wrote:Hi so it is worth calling o2 CS to see if they can offer me a better deal for the next year as my contract is up in January - and the current upgrade offers they are showing on my o2 account are ridiculous high - and 24 months - and by what some have said elsewhere there is maybe not even a chance to do this because I renewed last year through a USWITCH link. If not which is the best mobile provider to go to for a month then look to switch back into o2 with a new contract ? thanks
Fyi O2 themselves do offer 12mo and 30day SIMO - just damnably expensive compared to affiliate equivalent @Dino1968

£22 for 3GB who falls for that?
Pure profiteering

Well thanks all for your replies just got off phone with O2 got a really good CS chap. And secured a great deal for the next 2 years - £11 per month 85gb then a 20% discount applied
there is an increase of £2.50 in April 2026
But im happy as o2 coverage always been great for me and I do use the roaming a lot in the past in the EU
Was really easy actually - so settled now for the next 2 years cheers.

Yes he did explain that to me - but compared to the offers they were showing on my o2 account im more than happy with this deal - did not want the hassle of switching - so anything under like 14 quid for me a month with what i get is fine. a few quid here and there either way dont bother me. cheers.
