Pay off what you owe and you can leave at anytime.

If you're on refresh, the device is yours to keep so you can go sim only elsewhere.

The point is if the contract was taken out prior to any merger and changes take place there should be no penalty as the agreement was with O2 not Virgin Media /O2 therefore I intend not to pay the contract off .

Then you'll need to call O2 to see if they will allow you to hand back your device and cancel.

As your O2 contract continues as normal I wouldn't have thought it a valid reason to terminate your contract early as you are not affected by the merger.

@MI5 @SeanR69

The merger is not grounds for contract termination, as the company providing the services is still o2, VMo2 is the company that has been formed to operate the Joint Venture (its a 50/50 Telefonica / Liberty Global JV)

o2 are still the legal entity running the Mobile Network.

If people want to cancel they will need to pay off their contract in full, and if not on refresh pay any early termination fees.

The same happened when BT bought EE / PlusNet etc

- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

As I said, I doubt, it but SeanR69 needs to have it confirmed by O2.
