I have recently changed my phone and sim and am now getting a "not registered on network" message on my phone. Why is this and how do I make phone calls as before?

You can use your old sim or do a sim swap to activate the new sim.

@Gower1 The sim you received with the new phone is not active yet. You need to either use your old sim or do a sim swap: SIM Swap: a mini guide (incl eSim) - O2 Community
If you're not comfortable doing the swap yourself, call into an O2 store if you have one nearby and they'll do it for you. Be sure to bring identification with you.
