multiple recepients to one txt unreasonable charges

Ii have just had my bill which is double this month as I sent one txt under character limit to multiple receiptants & 02 have charged me 0.333 per txt! No icons, no pics just one txt to several people! I don't want anyone else getting stung by this! You have to forward the txt one by one as per 02.

I know I am being a bit thran (do you have that word over there?)  - but what does it matter to the phone?  Surely charging is a matter for O2?

If I send the same text to multiple contacts I send them in groups of 10 and I've never had an issue.

I have only two contact numbers on my phone @Anonymous . One is my better three-quarters, the other is my own number 'cos I can never remember it.  So I am never likely to fall foul of the multiple recipients problem, but I have found it interesting.   Very impressed by the speed at which you and @MI5 can retrieve and post information.

If the phone converts to MMS then O2 will charge for it, if not they won't.

On my Note 3 i can send to multiple recipients in groups of 20 i think. On my S4 it was groups of 10.

Depends on the handset software.

I don't have 10 friends...

Android has a setting to warn you when a message converts to mms, would it do the same sending a short message to multi-recipients?

Not something I have tried myself but one would assume that as it is converting it would warn the user too.

On some devices Rich it doesn't unless you have selected to be warned. I feel foul of that on my S4. Haven't risked it on the Note 3.

I always have the warning on but it's never triggered for me.....
