OK, so as long as you turn off mobile data from your pull down menu when you enable WiFi you're all set up OK.
No data will be used when connected to WiFi at all.

It's probably a good idea to just get in the habit of switching off Mobile Data when you don't need it. No sense in wasting what you've paid for and having to fill O2's coffers to top up, should you run out of data before your monthly allowance refreshes and you find need more.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

With data off you can't use it.
How are you recording data usage?

Thankfully I don't have this problem to worry about but it is a good habit to get into and only takes a nano second from the pull-down screen.

Yes ring O2 and they will look at your account and if upheld will return the used data.

If it happens again it will be down to the phone settings and not O2.
