So it seems its either IOS 14 or the mobile network.
I switch to the O2 sim yesterday and again got the same result.

Hi
I have recently purchased iphone 12 pro and am using it with the O2 Sim card. Unfortunately the battery drains almost by 25% overnight when the phone is idle.
I have replaced the phone already and did not make any difference.
If i remove the sim card the battery works fine, its only loses about 2 - 4 % overnight.
It is something to do with the Sim card.
Can you please advise.
thank you

I have now swapped to a esim on the iphone 12 and in terms of battery drain, it has not made any difference.
The only way i can stop the battery drain is the disable the sim card from settings.

Hi
So i bought a EE pay as you go sim and tried that on the phone.
The issue seems to have disappeared, the battery does not drain anymore.
I have read on various threads that users of Verizon, Vodaphone, O2 and three have these problems.
Its something on their network which is causing this.
Honestly right now it feels like i have a new phone. I was so fed up of trying to figure out the root cause of this.

Hi
I went and bought an EE Pay as you sim to try out on the iphone and I am really surprised to say that the battery drain has stopped.
On the 15th i was using the O2 sim card and you will notice that the battery was draining.
There is something on the O2 network which is causing this and would be really helpful if someone could respond and advise.

I'm very surprised so the question is, just what is the difference and why
Have you not altered any settings apart from the EE data set up?

hi
Nothing is different, I got the phone restored from the icloud backup. Put my o2 sim card in.
Battery starts draining. Enabled all the battery saving features and it still does not make any difference.
Only thing that worked was to disable mobile sim.
So i removed the sim card from the phone and the battery draining stopped.
Then decided to get another pay as you go sim from EE and tried that. The issue has stopped.
There is nothing wrong with the iphone.

This is simple, and this looks like your phone is constantly hunting for an o2 mast as this has always been the case the more hunting for a mobile signal the quicker the battery drains..
I would suggest trying 4G rather than 5G as that may help..
Are the sims PAYG or Pay Monthly
Although to be faithful IOS 14 is now 4 versions out, and your phone will suffer from any optimisations as well as the fact that IOS14 is out of support and has security vulnerabilities..
