Hi thanks for all the help, rang o2 there and what happened was for some reason they had issued a new nano sim yesterday by a mistake and activated it which in turn deactivated my current sim so they have it sorted now. Thanks for the help.

Did you do the 8.0.1 update last night?

Hi

Remove the sim and clean it.

The iOS 8.0.1 was removed by Apple so you won't show any updates to carry out.

Try a reset of your iPhone by ;

Holding the Top Sleep/Wake Button and Home Button until the Apple Logo appears, and then let go of both. Your iPhone will reset.

And or ;

Settings , General , Reset , Reset Network Settings.

You can ring O2 from a landline here 0344 8090202 to check your account.

But it does sound like the phone.

Are your masts ok http://status.o2.co.uk

If O2 all is ok with your account then ask an O2 shop to swap your sim in store

If that does not cure it then book the iPhone in with an apple Genius Bar http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/geniusbar/ or if your under 14 days of owning it and it was obtained via O2 your entitled to an new replacement

Most strange but good you've sorted it.
I assume you didn't request the new sim?
Did you check where they had posted it to?
