I'd think very carefully before you do anything. You will still be responsible for paying off the remainder of the contract, whether you cancel or not. If you don't pay, it will eventually be passed to a debt collection agency. You can't just walk away.

At some stage in the future you are very likely to need credit from somebody, maybe to buy a car or a house, this black mark will follow you for life.

That's a pity, you will have to live with the consequences.

Perhaps next time you should get a Pay and Go phone.

You're not listening to what we are saying. We are trying to help you avoid problems in the future, which you will have big time if you don't pay what you owe. Sell the phone if you have to, and call O2 and see if they can help in some way. If you don't listen to the advice that you are being given you will have a lot of problems in the future.

You won't just get a few letters asking you for payment. O2 will pass the debt on to a collection agency and they will hound you for payment and charges will escalate. You could end up owing hundreds of pounds with possible court proceedings.

I'm not trying to frighten you but I urge you to think this out and maybe get advice from parents or even the Citizens Advice Bureau.
