Resolved! Fraud identity check

Signed up for a phone with O2 the other day. Was asked for the full details of my Visa Debit card, including the 3 number code, as part of checks. Found this a bit odd. (Paying by direct debit so debit card shouldn’t come in to play).Is this normal?
