Calls and text on new sim

Hello I’ve just been sent a new sim today for my phone and my mum has one too it’s a monthly contact in my name. I want to know why we can’t call or text or have people call us as it’s not working how can we resolve this issue please.

Would texts to 85006 cost me from a pay monthly SIM

My ISP, Virginmedia Business has texted me from 85006 and I would like to reply. My phone is warning me that it may cost. Can anyone tell me for definite if it will cost or if it won't? I have a Pay Monthly SIM with a 12GB/m contract.
