Why is "Current Balance" erratic?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Does anyone know why the "Current Balance" figure (as displayed on "MyO2" and on my phone) seems to fluctuate without apparent reason?

For example, starting with a balance of £3.00, I sent four text messages. Instead of dropping to £2.80 (I am using Classic Pay as You Go, which charges 5p per text), my balance dropped to £1.80, before recovering (without any top-up from me) to £2.79 by the next morning.

I did not make any calls during the period in question, and mobile data was switched off.

These apparently random fluctuations are persisting, and it makes me reluctant to top-up too much credit, in case the system gobbles it up!

There is a known issue with that tariff and how it is displayed in your Myo2.
O2 are investigating it.

The same "problem tariff" (Classic PAYG) is still deducting at data tariff rate of about 15p. per MB instead of 5p, for low data users (i.e. typically "background " operational phone data .

This is under investigation  !! Hopefully !!
