Unwanted data

O2 keep texting me to say they are providing me with 50mg of data for which they will deduct £1 from my balance. I am paying for something I don't want as I never use data so how do I stop them doing this?

To save any confusion to the OP, turning off 3G will not disable data. Only by disconnecting the mobile data setting will help with data.
3G can be safely left on if it's just the data connection you want off.
If signal is poor on 3G, turning off 3G can help by forcing the phone to connect to the usually stronger 2G signal.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

You need to turn off mobile data and 3G in your settings and use wifi only.

At the moment they are charging you to access the internet which if your not accessing it then your apps for example may.

If you do want to use the internet then their are favourable tariffs that have data in them.

No need to turn 3g off as that is used for voice only mobile data needs disabling to stop data charges 3g voice is better quality than 2g voice.

Just my Personnel choice Adam.

I opt to turn both off.

OP can decide which is best for them.

But not necessary and may affect voice calls.

It may be your personal choice but I would never turn 3g off to avoid data charges

A network engineer would tell you calls can be made easily on both 2G and 3G networks with no real noticeable differences except that in 3G network video calls can also be made.

@Theflintstone

I concur.

I have not noticed any difference myself on the O2 Network.

But like I say it's personal choice.
