Hi,

My daughter uses O2. The contract is in my name from about a decade ago, although she uses the phone and pays the bill. The mimimum term on the current contract has been completed and the device all paid off.

She now wants to upgrade but would like the contract to be in her name. The easiest way to do this will be that she will get a new contract with O2. However, she would like to keep the existing number. Is this possible? Our research suggsts that PAC codes can only be used when transferring networks. So if she was going to EE, it would be easier. She is quite keen to stay with O2 though if possible.

Cheers

Your daughter needs to get a new contract in her name, then ask O2 to migrate her old number to the new contract.

You will need to give permission for that and no PAC needed.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Hi @young

For a new contract she will have to go through O2 for usual credit checks etc.

All contact details here but be prepared for a log wait unless you try at 8am Guide: How to find help & contact O2

Thanks.

Will that be quick? How does the permission work?

You just both need to be on a call together to give permission.

Probably best to wait until this current crisis is over though.

You would have to be together so O2 can speak to you both,

Frustrating. We don't live together so being on a call together would be difficult. And her phone is broken, so hense the urgent need to get a new one. Getting a new contract is fine, but she really wants to keep her number. It may be easier for her to go to another network and go down the PAC code route
