Swapping Sim

Hi I'm looking to cancel my daughters o2 pay monthly contract set up by my husband to a new contract set up by myself (I have the better deal offers). Does my husband need to end the contract he has set up for her before I can give her the new sim?  Was a super small contract so not worried greatly about early termination charge. No live chat available at present to talk us through what we need to do.  Thank in advance
