Is there anyway I can get more storage on my iphone without having to submit bank card details for payment for extra storage/

What phone?

With Android, you can generally buy an SD card, but if iPhone there's no option but to buy additional iCloud storage.

Yeah but it won't help much.
Turning off some of the items backing up to iCloud can also help but Apple are very clever in forcing you to buy iCloud storage......
