Slow / No Data in Ormskirk / Burscough Lancs (full month)

Hi,

Have had unusable data since about 16th December. Have lost faith in O2 ever fixing it. A few other people I know are also having issues but I assume there must be others. Anybody in L40 especially around Square Lane area having issues? Have put in a formal complaint having wasted hours trying to get things resolved but not heard back yet and network is unusable. 48kbps down.

Can you receive 2g calls and texts?

Usually, if you wait until service is fully restored, they will compensate for the downtime.
You should call and ask when you are back online properly - This isn't compulsory though so it's best to ask politely if they would consider it for your case.

Calls and texts are fine just data. Phones will show HSDPA+ but actual data is too slow. Was great until mid December.

I think if they would have given me an explanation and timescales etc I would have accepted things but I either get told it's working fine or that it will be fixed in a day or so.

Whilst it is extremely frustrating (in my areas i only get 2g, there is no 3g or 4g) I'm afraid if you read o2's terms and conditions you will see that they do not guarantee signal. Further, they don't guarantee any particular level of signal so if you are getting a working 2g signal they are giving you the service you pay for.

I know what you will say and I agree with you but that is the reality I'm afraid.

The reality is they (customer service) probably don't know but know if they said that the customers would not be happy with that and would get frustrated with them. Doesn't make it right but. ...

Ah, well that sounds more like a congestion problem.

Either a local mast is overloaded or they are updating the fibre backhaul network (or both).

Where I used to work the H+ was unusable. 9 months it took o2 to upgrade the mast.

Maybe sold too many phones over Christmas? What makes it most annoying is that data has been great for about 5 years so I upgraded expecting continued service. I think my only escape if they don't fix it soon will be to sell my handset to pay the buy out fee.
