Sim not working - upgraded yesterday

I upgraded my handset yesterday evening and changed the sim as part of that.  How long does it take before I can make calls/send texts?  Currently it is just emergency calls only.

Anything up to 24 hours but you should reboot your phone periodically during that time....

If it does not start by perhaps later on this afternoon then ring O2.

The process will have started when your old sim card loses network coverage.
