Silent calls

Anonymous
Not applicable
For the last 3 months I have been getting silent calls where as soon as you say hello the line goes dead. I have been blocking to my hearts content but it is like an unlimited source of numbers they have or the computer has and it is 2-3 times a day know. Is there anyway I can stop these area coded numbers from dialling my mobile unless they pronounce themselves?

Report all the numbers to the regulator and if enough reports they will take action.

I sympathise with you @blanched but there is little you can do. Hopefully psauthority.org.uk can help you through I have my doubts. May after a while these calls will stop. Have you tried calling one of the numbers to see where the calls are coming from?

If the numbers are withheld or just a change of digit, it could be remote dialler as mentioned on a thread earlier today https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/This-is-shocking/m-p/1089858/highlight/true#M14...

I have had an unusual amount this month (on my landline) . A few remain silent then disconnect...others just say 'goodbye' and also disconnect.....

Another method is to use the ICO reporting website
