Here is a text message I received from O2 when I arrived in China last October.

"Welcome to CHINA. You're on O2 Travel so keep your phone on and get all (ALL!!!) the data, minutes and texts you need for just £4.99 a day.You'll only be charged for the days you use it. Prices include VAT. Your daily charge applies from midnight to midnight based on the local time in the capital city of your chosen destination."

O2 charged me the £4.99 a day including VAT for this splendid offer and also charged me an additional £182.05 for phone calls to the UK. I called several operators who said they could not help me get a refund as the text was just, ' one of those automatic messages....''.

I want my money back please unless O2 have a damn good reason for sending this message and then charging me for calls.

David

@davidahindle

Did you exceed your daily minutes allowance? ie ..O2 Travel is available on Pay Monthly. 120 minutes, 120 texts and data for £4.99 a day

https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/international/using-phone-abroad

This is the only way you should have been charged. Exceeding your daily allowance means you would be charged at international rates ie

http://international.o2.co.uk/internationaltariffs/travelling_abroad#

Standard Rates

Our Pay Monthly customers will be charged at the following rate when calling or texting from this country.

Making a local call to landlines or mobiles will always be the same price as calling home when you're abroad.

Sending a picture message (MMS) costs 55p and it's always free to receive a text.

When in:  China     Calling:  United Kingdom (UK)

Making calls - per minute£2.00
Receiving calls - per minute£2.00
Sending texts - per message50p
