Hi everyone
My wife and I recently travelled to Potugal I have a Galaxy S5 and my wife a S3. We both switched the phones off for the flight. Upon arriving in Portugal and restarting the phones I recieved a message welcoming me to Portugal and connecting me to the MEO network. My wifes phone however didnt recive the message or connect to any network for our entire stay. Upon searching for available networks the MEO network never appeared on her phone?
Returning to the UK I rang 202, the guy didnt really know what the problem was but tried blaming tugo been switched on? However both our phones have tugo installed so I wasn't too confident that was the answer. He agreed to send a new sim card which I have now installed. Of course the problem is we dont know if it works untill we next go abroad.
Has anyone had similar experience or suggestions?
TIA

Hi @fredsautos
Is your wife with O2? .... If she had problems connecting to the MEO network she could have tried a manual search for an alternative network....I had no problems with my S3 when I had one
I now have a Note 3 and manual search always works for me. I go to Spain every 2 months or so....and if issues with my network I connect to another one..:smileywink:

Both phones are on one contract with O2, its a Galaxy S3. Surely you cant just connect to any available network though?

I usually connect to Movistar. If that fails I connect to Orange ES or Vodafone....or indeed any local networks that may be available. I always reboot the phone and then find the main partner network eventually kicks in. Having said all of the above I never use Tugo. I have no need to ...as I use wifi everywhere I go in Spain...

Also to add to my edit above.I initially had a Samsung S3...and now have a Note 3....My grandson has a S5 and travels with me to Spain often. A new sim card may well solve the issue your wife had...

Would the phone connect to any other network?

Do you know how to do a manual search like @Cleoriff suggested?
Settings> Networks> More Networks > Network Operators and select the one you want from the list given
