Restore a deleted text message

How do I restore a deleted text message, once upon a time, you used to be able to log on and read through your old texts through o2, now you can't, or can you?

I there there are apps @MI5 ? When I was googling that answer last night there was a article that showed the apps available both for Android and iPhones. ? I wasn't sure how current it was so answered with that one link
