On I started an o2 refresh contract over a year ago and was looking at going for a new phone but noticed the iPhone 6s is £90 more expensive than apples price? How can the refresh deals be so great as advertised?

on my 64gb 6s o2 were 39.99 more than apple but on the 30gb tarriff in 12 months time O2 will pay off the refresh plan and I return the handset so I will be actually paying only £349.99 for the iphone over the 12 months saving £269.01 over outright purchase cost from apple.
Swings and roundabouts yes if direct purchase you have the handset to sell in 12 months.
Just go for a deal that suits you

All networks have their own deals. With O2 you can pay off your device plan and upgrade at any time. No other network as far as I know gives you this option....
