Queries on Changing Number

Hello,

I am a pay monthly customer.

I have never asked to change my number before now.

I know that I need to contact O2 customer services RE changing my number, but I have some queries (which I hope one of you lovely people can answer for me).

  1. If I change my number, will it be instant?
  2. What happens when people try to call my old number?
  3. If I am waiting for an important call, will I receive notification of it?
  4. Is it wiser to wait until I get the call I am waiting for before changing my number?
  5. What happens to my old number?
  6. Is it possible to return back to my old number?
  7. Do O2 help with any transfer (e.g. like a bank)?

Thanks

The number change will take upto 24 hours to complete.
Your old number will be returned to the pool so if anyone calls it it will not connect until it’s reallocated to someone else.
You won’t be able to choose to go back.
If the call is mega important I’d wait before changing.

Finally, you’ll need to let everyone know your new number. That’s not something o2 can help with.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

@gemz4the1 You will get one free number change from O2, they will transfer it straight away like a sim swap but just keep rebooting your phone until it’s active.
