Any new updates reguarding these premuim shortcode text messages. Surely by now they has to be an update pr some form off protective services which can be applied to prevent this from happeneing.

My guide may be usefull @Wa10 but not the solution to the op question from @chrisymon there have been no changes to the system.
O2 will not block incomming premium rate etc as they do not know you have not initiated them on a website which is how most of the rogue charges are generated.
