A searchable list would be easier unless the system links teachers to NUT, students to NUS, army to Armed Forces etc.....?
This is the problem we see frequently. ....someone last month struggled with NHS....kept putting in the hospital trust etc...(which you would if being asked for employer...)

I doubt very much they (o2) would want to publish a list, searchable or otherwise.
If they did then everyone would work for a company on the list!!

A very interesting point @MI5, thanks for raising. I'll let the rest of the team about this thread in the hope that it can be made clearer.

Actually I have not had to provide proof of my employer since using the discount (mentally I am now preparing for either a phone call or email asking for some) - and that is almost 2 years ago...

No one has to provide proof when texting the code. It's open to all kinds of abuse. Fair deal for all? Hardly.

My point. I have open discount when retired....seems crazy to me. I had employee discount 3 years after my wife retired.....

I'm aware this is a few months old now, but just a note you were lucky the guy in the shop told you! I usually go in in uniform as it's part of my beat. I was told 4 months after upgrading in store that there was a discount available - but I had to apply within 3 months of upgrade. No joy from customer services. It's not as if you can ask openly for a discount in uniform - gently disgusted they didn't tell me at the time!

Very unfortunate and O2 would not be idling to give the discount after so long. It actually has to be applied within the first 30 days.
A possible way round it if you are on Refresh is to pay off the handset at which point you are eligible to upgrade again and get the discount.
