It can vary from country to country and region to region. Many people say it's unusable but others have had no problems.

Hi @Anonymous Not sure what area of Spain you go to but I travel to the Malaga region frequently and on the occasions I use mobile data I never have a problem with speed. I know it is dependent on the area you travel to but I think it's fair to offer my point of view. I go there at all times throughout the year. Wherever I can I use WiFi...and on the one occasion that was poor I used mobile data. .....
Swings and roundabouts really......
I am off again tomorrow and hope I don't have to 'eat my words' as it were....:smileywink:

If you phone is unlocked then indeed get a local sim. Otherwise you are restricted to o2 travel..

I still have O2 travel and used it as soon as I landed at Malaga. As I've paid for it I have kept it on all day...if you want my honest opinion data was loading more quickly in Spain than it was at Birmingham airport (which has 4G)
Two good local sims are Movistar (as said) and Orange ES...
