O2 Refresh

Okay so over a year ago I took out an O2 Refresh contract as was swayed by the “next upgrade on us” campaign.

Now over a year later I want to upgrade my iPhone 7+ 128gb (that’s pristine) for the iPhone X but every time I do so I am being told there a tariff change.

Now i I do not want to change my tariff and I am happy with it and since the “next upgrade on us” I do not see why I am being asked to increase payments.

Have I been lied to and misled?

@SimonN  A guide to Refresh here https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-Pay-and-Go/How-does-O2-Refresh-work/ba-p/1014093

Info about Upgrade on us here https://www.o2.co.uk/on-us

I think you will find there is no mention of tariff remaining the same...

Hmmmmm...
New contract = new tariff.
When you upgrade you take a new contract, the only way around it is to buy your new iPhone outright and continue your o2 airtime as sim only.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I am thinking the shop simply misled me when buying this.
I was told that I can simply get a new phone after 12 months on them. The campaign states this too.
Since tariff and handset fees are split out and considered separate it seemed the right way to go. Now it simply seems like a con due to sales staff. Think I shall in future record all conversations in store as I find the staff often backtrack on what they say (or are ill informed).

Thanks guys for clarifying things here; guess I will be sticking with this phone.

Is there no new tariffs similar to what you have now or are they as I suspect they are, more money for less?
