Hey everyone, I hope your all staying safe and enjoying the sun!

a few months back I purchased an iPad 2019 on an old phone number but with a new smaller tarriff.

I'v only just realised that neither the data or text messages are working, I'm assuming its somehting I've failed to do on setup but, from what I can see all the usual settings are correct.

No o2 Guru's to help online? 😞

Thanks for any help! slight_smile

The ipad isn't able to send text messages

I have an 02 plan for 100 texts and 2gb data - I can't use that data (web, apps etc) or send or recieve texts.

Thank you slight_smile

Is the data plan you have for the ipad?

iPads can't send texts unless you put the sim in a phone.

Call customer service and ask them to enable idata on your account

or you could change the APN on the ipad to : mobile.o2.co.uk  as a temporary measure but doing that won't allow facetime except on wifi.

@JJeavons

Check in Settings >Mobile data that it is turned on then scroll down and make sure the data switch for each app is turned on.

Yes, the data plan was created at the same time as I ordered the ipad - why would they offer that tarriff if it can't send text messages? I'm almost certain it can.

The iPad has a sim, i put it in there when I recevied it.

The APN is mobile.o2.co.uk already.

hmmm

@JJeavons

For use in UK you should use the APN iData.o2.co.uk

All data sims come with 100 texts as some tablets can send and receive SMS.

The iPad cannot definitely.

For what it's worth - the phone number on the account used to be used for an actual phone. I'm assuming they made the correct changes, if any, when the tariff began.
